BOM – Bill Of Materials

0

Hi,

today we would like to tell you about our new solution that we created to provide you with a simple and available instrument to calculate the production cost of your products.

Quite often working with small “factories” we faced the situation when the factory owners could not tell us the exact production cost per unit for the goods they produced. It was a pity situation since the pricing policy is totally distorted in this case. And in addition the management had no idea about the rate of use of the resources, about inefficiencies, about additional opportunities etc.
Therefore, we created this very simple, intuitive, and powerful tool to manage the hierarchy of products – the Bill Of Materials.

Permeability analysis – Excel application

0

Hi,

Today we would like to introduce you one of our projects that we did for Politecnic University of Insubria. This is an Excel application that helps calculating the permeability of soils.

“Why in Excel?” you might ask. Excel is a powerful and flexible framework to create applications with dynamic interfaces. In this project we needed to implement the tool to manage different points that took measures of different parameters of soils. Their particular feature is that each point is characterised by a variable number of discontinuity families. Therefore, one point had to expose an interface to input data in 3 families, the other one – in 15 families, yet another one – in 35 families etc.
At first we were requested to develop a stand-alone application. However, after having thought carefully of the problem we offered to develop the application in Excel.

Techedge EXPENSES report in Excel

0

Hi guys,

here you can download the first version of Techedge Expenses report in Excel tool that allows filling in our internal Techedge expenses report from Excel.

Here you can find the related post on Techedge Time report: http://www.plinky.it/blog/index.php/2009/01/27/techedge-timereport-in-excel-ii/

I didn’t record a video presentation on the tool since the interface is farely similar to the Techedge Time report. So, those who use it will not find any problems.

There are a couple of interesting features in the report:

  • there is a days number factor (check the Settings worksheet). This factor specifies how many times each day is replicated within one month. The default is 2 which means that each day is present 2 times in the month (week-ends are always writen once).
  • the filter is maintained. If you select not to show the week-ends (saturday and sunday) then after generating the new calendar for the new month the filter will be maintained.

Feel free to download it:

And contact me (or comment here) for any discovered issures, suggestions etc. :)

All the best wishes,

Valera :)

Hi guys,

here you can download a new version of Techedge Timereport in Excel tool that allows filling in our internal Techedge time report from Excel.

Here you can find the original post: http://www.plinky.it/blog/index.php/2008/07/20/techedge-timesheet-with-excel/

with the original video:

The added feature (as requested) is the automatic insert of holidays for all the week-ends. :)

As soon as I’ve some spare time I finish and publish the next version with the form for entering EXPENSES! :)

By the way, if you like to add 2 or more entries per day in the time report it’s enough to create 2 or more lines per same day in the Excel worksheet. The program will create as many entries in web report as there are lines per day. :)

If you want to change the values inserted in the week-ends check the sheet SETTINGS where you find the named cell WeekEndProject and WeekEndType. These values are taken as input for each week-end. :)

You can download the tool here:

All the best wishes,

Valera :)

Power Point slide progress bar
Hi,
today we would like to present you an old solution – a Power Point add-in for building slide progress bars automatically.

Very often working with PowerPoint presentations we face the necessity to put a horizontal static line on each slide to separate the title from the slide content.

From now you will have the possibility to make this bar dynamic. The PowerPoint slide progress bar not only separates the slide title from the slide content, but also gives a graphical representation of the current slide’s position in the presentation. This function is especially useful for long presentations with small or no slide numbers. Despite that, the slide progress bar is quite a fancy feature that can be added to your presentations.
