Apple’s castle is under siege, Android is close to the walls

During the past months I have been following the debate between Android and Apple fans. Each side considers its own device a better performer than the other, but what is the reality? (more…)
Android Froyo what’s new?
2Today at the Google I/O Froyo (Android 2.2) makes its official appereance and it looks really really great!!!
I would like to resume the biggest news of the latest Andorid release:
1. Android Just In Time Compiler

Finally JIT (Just In Time) Compiler is released in Android. JIT Compiler represents a hybrid approach in code compilation between the two classic one: intepreted and static compilation. This “feature” makes our android much faster.
In particular during the event it was shown the fps rate in a game running on two Nexus One (one Eclair and one Froyo with JIT); as you can see, the first is much better performance of the second although they have the same hardware.
Some days ago a NexusOne with Android 2.2 beated its “brother” with Android 2.1 in a benchmarch test (Linpack for Andorid), the first is 450% faster.

HTC Hero & Android 2.1 Eclair… Is it just a dream?
1
Some days ago HTC apologised for the delay of the development of the new Android 2.1 firmware with HTC Sense for Hero, last official news is that HTC will release the new official firmware on June.
What I would like to say to all HTC users is to root anyway your Hero and install a custom ROM, they are now pretty stable and fully working; if you are not confortable with Eclair you can install Modaco cutom ROM based on HTC 1.5 that is faster than the official one.
Currently, absolutely IMHO, the best Eclair custom ROM is VillainRom, I changed many ROMs in the last few month, without any significant data loss or problem.
You can download latest version at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654030.
If you have no rooted HTC Hero before, follow my two blogs in order to root and update the recovery manager:

Happy Android everyone!!!!!

Let’s start to configure first our Fonera in order to activate OpenVPN.
- First of all from Fonera pannel activate OpenVPN (Dashboard >> Settings >> OpenVPN) and generate a new key set. This could take up to 10 minutes.
- In the meantime if you have a dynamic DNS and you don’t have an account on dyndns.org create a new free account. Dyndns free. (more…)
